My Love Affair with Ginger Jars

Have you ever found a decor item that you loved so much you wanted to collect more of? That’s me with ginger jars. I came across my first one during a trip to Home Goods in the Summer of 2022. It was somewhat hidden on an end-cap, but it caught my eye as soon as I passed by it. I knew the teal and blue floral pattern would fit in nicely with my mostly-blue home so I bought it! I took it home, filled it with faux citrus stems and placed it on my kitchen island. And that’s when my love affair with ginger jars began. There’s something about that blue and white jar filled with orange stems that I simply love…it’s retro-inspired but with a modern twist. This combination has become a signature in my home and business - it was even the inspiration for my logo! It is a timeless yet fresh design that has since inspired those that know me to embrace the joy of ginger jars. “I bought my first ginger jar because of you” is one of the most frequent comments I receive and it never gets old! I love hearing how you share my passion for the blue and white!

I now have more than a few (wink wink!) ginger jars that I’ve acquired over the last year.  Anytime I take a trip to a home decor store, I can’t help but look for them.  The thrill of the hunt is part of the fun!  Never knowing if you’ll find one makes the discovery even more exciting.  I’ve shopped 95% of mine from Home Goods.  They usually have the best pricing compared to online stores.  The ones I own were all around $30-$50 depending on their size.  Most of them are the traditional blue and white color scheme but I do have a few unique colors like yellow and teal.

Did you know ginger jars were originally used in Ancient China as containers for salt? They were also used for spices like ginger - hence their modernized name! You can style them in a variety of ways - that’s the best part, they’re multi-use! I like to display mine on open shelving - I have some in my kitchen, family room, and home office. They’re perfect on built-ins! My favorite way to style them though is to use them as a vase! They make STUNNING vases for both real and faux florals!

Whether you display them empty or filled with flowers, ginger jars add a touch of timeless elegance to any space. See how I’ve styled some below!
