About me

Hi, I’m Sarah, an artist, Certified Interior Decorator (C.I.D.), color enthusiast, maximalist at heart, and the founder of Sarah McCarty Interiors.

I believe a home should feel like you - layered, personal, a little bold, and never boring. My love of design started early, growing up in a home filled with color, pattern, and my father’s artwork on nearly every wall. That creative foundation shaped how I see spaces today: not as blank slates, but as stories waiting to be told.

My own decorating journey really took off when my husband and I bought our first home. Since then, we’ve moved a few times - but in every space, I’ve leaned into color, texture, and art to bring out the personality of each room (yes, even the powder room has a story to tell). From hand-stenciled walls to perfectly placed vintage finds, I’ve learned that great design doesn’t have to be intimidating - it just has to feel right.

Over the years, my passion for interiors naturally led me back to painting. Today, my work spans both interior design and original artwork, with each inspiring the other. As an artist, I approach rooms with an eye for composition, color, and creating spaces that feel collected, meaningful, and uniquely personal.

I started this business because I genuinely love the process - curating, sourcing, space planning, styling. What feels overwhelming to many lights me up. Whether you're refreshing a corner or tackling a full-room makeover, I’m here to help you create a space that feels like you and works for the way you actually live.

My work and design perspective have been featured in a variety of online publications, including Southern Living, Real Simple, and Apartment Therapy.

We spend more time at home than ever - why not make it a space you absolutely love coming back to?

Let’s create something meaningful, fun, and a little unexpected!
